Film Still Das Falsche Wort. Melanie Spitta (1946 – 2005) was a filmmaker and Sinti who survived the 2nd world war. Her entire family was murdered. She fought for restitution for the survivors and prosecution of those who still try to hide evidence of this genocide. She attended the First World Congress. Her daughter Carmen survives her. She is a singer and advocate for Roma.

Anton Facuna

Anton Facuna (1920-1980) was a spy and Romani Resistance Leader in World War 2. With Haviva Reik (an Israeli Parachutists & Jewish Partisan Leader), they led The Slovak National Uprising in 1944.
He assassinated Nazis & documented the Holocaust. He was the first Roma to work for US Intelligence.

Weer Rajendra Rishi was an Indian linguist, diplomatic translator, and Romani studies scholar. He attended the first Congress, which was funded in part by the Government of India.

Juan de Dios Ramírez Heredia is a Spanish politician, of Romani ethnic origin. He is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party. In 1986-1999 he was a Member of the European Parliament. He was born in Puerto Real, Cádiz. He was also a conference delegate.
